One key work during fellowship
- Rural Housing & Sanitation is a major challenge in the district due to its geographical location, availability of the materials and lack of skilled masons.
What was done:
- Planning and execution of mason training by concerned department was conducted in several phases addressing the manpower issues, Facilitation for the availability of the Bricks at the GP level, Educated beneficiaries about convergence under MGNERES for IAY and IHHL. Regarding IHHL planning and model to operate Rural Sanitary Marts(RSM), SHG women was given training in making of the sanitary ring structures. A proposal was sent to Rural Technology Park, NIRD, Hyderabad to have a Technology transfer in the areas such as Local mud/ sand brick making, Local toilet technology, Bamboo toilets etc.
- Significant progress in the Rural housing was achieved, Three SHG’s were identified to run Rural Sanitary Marts(RSM). Once the Technology transfer happens between the NIRD and the district, the issues such as availability of the Bricks will be addressed ,sustainable local designs of toilets using local materials and creation of the water harvesting structures/ Land development will achieved under convergence with MGNERES while utilizing the local resources
