Prior work experience:
- Worked for seven months with DSAG, Tribal Development Department, Govt. of Gujarat as the development Consultant at Gandhinagar, Gujarat ; worked for four months with NBJK, Khunti, Jharkhand as the Branch Manager ; worked for 18 months with ITC Limited as the Program Officer, under the CSR vertical of the organization based at Saharanpur, U.P
One key work during fellowship
- Lack of working capital due to poor institutional credit linkage of the SHGs in general across Purulia district resulting in discontinued livelihood options round the year and insufficient agricultural production as well.
What was done:
- A SHG livelihood generation programme called “MUKTIDHARA” has been launched by the Govt. of West Bengal in two blocks of Purulia district on a pilot basis to generate self employment opportunities and sustainable livelihood options by ensuring institutional credit linkage to the SHGs and providing other necessary livelihood support viz promoting modern agricultural practices, opting alternative livelihood activities ranging from Lac cultivation, starting up small shops, etc.
- A total of 389 SHGs have been benefited by this programme and has been brought under the institutional lending of a total of Rs. 3.77 crores by the corresponding bank branches. Further, this resulted in carrying out a varied range of livelihood activities ranging from Paddy cultivation, horticulture activities, livestock rearing etc. and provided the families an average income of Rs.3000 per month.
